My Charcoal GB2 uniform...DONE!

It’s been a long time coming as I’ve had this for months hanging in my wardrobe but I’ve just acquired the belt clips from goosebuster and thought I’d take some pictures and post it up.

It’s a navy Tru-Spec which I’m going to dye charcoal gray. I have everything I need, I just need to find someone/somewhere to dye it for me as my girlfriend isn’t letting me anywhere near the washing machine with bleach and various dyes!!

wow mark is that the navy blue tru-spec i linked you to on ebay a while back?

in that lighting with the flash, it almost looks like you would’nt need to dye it. im sure its much lighter blue in other lighting though, no?

Yeah, his looks very similar to how my second gb2 suit looked before I dyed it.

Here’s a shot of my first gb2 uniform (dyed) and my undyed second gb2 uniform.

Anyway, it looks like you are headed in a good direction so far. Good luck with the dying! Its a pain but it’s worth it.

Looking great so far Mark, the key fobs look great. What happened to the lettering on your lifegard? The colour looks pretty close as it is, make me wonder if the screen used ones were just a faded version of this, you know, due to age and repeat washings?

Yep, it’s the very same kind! I told you it would take forever. I took photo’s without the flash and it looks very blue indeed. Hopefully within the next week or two I can find somewhere to dye it. I’ll be following mburkits dye method.

It’s a resin lifgard that I got a long long time ago. I’m going to paint the lettering on it.

Looking great Mark! Be cool to represent the charcoal suits together this year now I got my gb2 suit all done

That must be the exact same suit i have, i only tried mine on the other day for colour reference, like yours in most lights it looks very close anyway to the screen-used suits so im still in two minds about altering the colour & no way would my wife let me near the washing machine with dye methods… so i may just leave it be hmmmm

alter it

in other lighting, its wayyy to blue to be accurate to a GB2 gray suit.

Indeed. Here it is without flash. Too blue.

OK, I finally have found a launderette to do my dying. However, it’s going to be expensive and a long day.

I have a question about BLACK Tru-Spec’s. Can’t they just be lightened with colour remover? Or is that a stupid question?

you can use color remover or bleach but whichever you choose, you will still have to dye the suit. When bleached/color stripped, black suist do not turn gray, they turn almost a reddish/brown.

Hmm, I might have to get one of those for my replica Ghostbusters U.K. uniform.

Mark, it might be worth trying to make a decal/sticker of the Lifegard logo rather than paint it on.

Cheers Ben, but I already went over the letters with a thin black marker pen. Worked a treat. I’ll upload a photo when I get the time.

Just wondering Shodanmark, where did you manage to get your rings etc for the GB2 suit? I have found a few websites that offer them but really don’t know what measurements are accurate

The belt loops and keyrings were made by goosebuster.

For anyone interested, no updates yet as I’m debating wether to dye this or splash out on a Gibson & Barnes flight suit. Hmmm.

Does he custom make them or was it just spares from his uniform?

I’m defo gonna have a GB2 style uniform, but I may well settle for the standard leather belt key holders etc.

He custom made them. I don’t know if he’s still making them or not, but there’s no harm in asking him.

Yeah, I decided to try it out and see if he could make them for me…Really don’t know a thing about stitching or attaching studs etc…I really need to find some talents for this hobby!!

Well I finally got around to dyeing the suit.

I’d say it came out pretty good. Now to attach the patches…

Looking good man, looking good.
