well, more just a collection of parts at this point but i have done some minor construction. Fully finished the ion arm. casted the resisitors in resin so i could drill into them to attache the blue hose. also scratchbuilt my HGA and added the clippard and legris elbow (not a real one, i scratchbuilt one and casted a few to use on my pack). other parts include the crank knob and PPD. still have to paint the crank knob grey as i’m building a GB1 style pack but just can’t bring myself to ruin that perfect black finish yet hehe. other parts i have but not shown include the ALICE frame and stickers. OH and i finally got my clippard for the thrower and i have the metal knobs on their way!!! also have the motherboard and ribbon cable clamp on their way too. anyway here are the pics of what i have so far…
i use vallejo black primer to paint my parts. not the cheapest of spraypaints but really gives a great smooth matt finish that can be slightly polished to add a bit of sheen. also as its a primer it will go on to almost any surface
thanks! the stickers were weathered using very fine sandpaper. just rubbed around the edges to make them look faded and scratched. when the whole pack is put together i will add much more detailed weathering and use the fullers earth method. want to aim for a bit of a planet hollywood look
Sticker weathering is a real nice touch! I’m liking how this is coming together and those metal knobs really add to it, are you going to weather them too? I know it’s a shame since they look so nice and shiny LOL
haha i know! the gun knobs are too nice to weather really. will see how they look compared to the whole pack once its finished and if the stand out too much then i will have to dull them down a bit.
thanks man! to be honest the only parts that i put any serious amount of hard work into so far are the ion arm and thrower. and as im ordering a pack shell it will just be a case of screwing and bolting everything together (i hope )
Wow…just wow. Great stuff so far. I always thought it was interesting to see packs that looked “right off the assembly line” and weathered packs…your stuff is so clean you could have made it look brand new! But your weathering is awesome, just an all around excellent job so far.
I’ve seen your stuff, you’re a paint and weathering genius, I’m not surprised, but its still a GREAT quality build you’re doing. Keep posting pictures!
