After selling my vacformed proton pack and all my other gb props and uniform just after Christmas I decided I wanted to build another pack using a resin shell and as much real parts that I can get my hands on.
At the moment I’m just collecting a lot of the bits and getting things sorted to start the build.
First off I purchased a quagmire (seller over on the uk ghostbusters forum) and aluminium mother board.
Next up purchased an Alice frame off eBay the other week. Again this pointed out to me by a member on the uk ghostbusters forum Also from the uk so cheaper than paying shipping etc.
Also purchased off eBay a EHC crank knob. It has the same military spec as the original Raytheon knob used in the original film. Seller is filandrius who is also on here as well
More parts purchased today from Gbfans shop. Aluminium injector tubes and aluminium HGA. Injector tubes have the ends pre tapped for the brass fittings and the back is tapped to take 1/4 screws to fix to shell.
pretty sure your shock mount is from TCBTexas, aka Videobob, and that sucker isn’t accurate at all, if you want an accurate one, I suggest buying urethane recast by Venky or waiting for the run by AJ. Also, I wouldn’t be letting people know you bought from him, even if it was on eBay, there is quite a hate on for him as he likes to recast the community’s parts around here and sell them as his own
ebay or not, If you take that thermostat bellows and give it new machined end caps and expand it, it will look and move like the real deal. Resin bellows are only used on gb2 semi heroes. Thats what alot of people do with those types of bellows. (gbnerds, joe luna, the socals, ect.)
After looking through my eBay history the seller is TCBTexas. When I purchased this item I didn’t realise the bad feedback he had on this forum. I will be changing the bellow as when it turned up realised it was not that accurate at all.
Totally not trying to give anyone grief about the situation, I just know how heated it gets around here when Bob’s stuff pops up, so it was more of a heads up, thats all
If you were looking to replace the plastic jackets on the cracked legris elbows, I think Nick-a-tron was making them at one point, and they looked just like the originals
Replacing the plastic jacket on genuine Legris elbows?!? Cracks or not, that’s a big no-no. It’d be like replacing the laminate on a used GB1 ribbon cable. When you find vintage parts you keep them as is. Anyway, the elbows on the screen used packs are all cracked.
As for that Bob guy, nobody is safe. I didn’t know that username TCBTexas. He won the auction for my 5/32 elbows on eBay, and I was pretty bummed out to have to ship them to him. :roll:
Also a metal bellows is accurate. A little modding to get it to expand and you should be good…not that I promote using Bob’s but this one is a genuine part and not a “re-cast”. Either way take it as a lesson learned and tell your friends “Don’t give this guy money”
I purchased my shell from someone on uk ghostbusters forum. I payed £150 for the shell and the motherboard second hand. Real good bargain as the seller on uk ghostbusters sells just the shells for £180 plus £15 postage.
The aluminium sticker is only placed on at the minute for the picture. Should there be a counter sunk screw in the middle of the sticker. I have seen a few packs that has them and some that doesn’t.
When you find vintage parts you keep them as is. Anyway, the elbows on the screen used packs are all cracked.
