New Equipment?.

I know, I am sorry I really hate to speculate, but could those be Ecto Granades that these ladies are wearing?

Those look cool! I can’t tell if they’re wearing different types of… whatevers… or if Kates are activated or what. But I like the look of them.

I never cared for grenades when it came to the OGB’s. I never really thought grenades fit the “average schlub” aesthetic. This one… with the dirtbikes with guns on the handlebars… kind of feels like they’re fighting a war this time.

Also on that page is a good shot of Chris Hemsworth’s stunt double. I can see the scene now: simple minded hunk intern Kevin suits up to help his coworkers (hence “KEVIN” written on duct tape) but he’s immediately possessed and has a fight scene with the Ghostbusters. Cue all the “don’t hurt his sexy body” jokes and some comment from the pasty wimp villain about feeling great in this new body.

I don’t know-- the guns are pretty hastily duct-taped to the handle bars. That feels pretty “average schlub” to me. Without knowing the context of the story, it’s hard to guess based on bad cell phone pics.

This movie is starting to look like something that feels like Ghostbuters. I am also glad that it appears to have a completely different story than anything that has been told in the franchise before. I didn’t want to see the same Ghostbusters movie from 1984 just with a gender swap, but it appears to be more than that so I am pretty excited there. I am looking forward to seeing the Ghost traps, I dig the guns on the bike. I am just hoping that the threat that they are facing is pretty epic in scale.

Ehh… assault vehicles and bandoliers of grenades give me more of a soldier-y vibe than a janitor-y vibe.

Though Kevin there seems to be rocking a home made Ghostbusters suit, so the bike may be all his.

Also that stunt double looks exactly like Jake Kong Jr.

I hear there’s a ghost T-Rex.

A ghost.

T-Rex.

I think the makeshift uniform MIGHT be just a stunt suit, but knowing this production it probably isn’t. I’m getting the vibe, personally, that the bike(s) are only going to be ridden by Hemsworth to catch up to the girls or something. Of course, it’s all just speculation.

I like the grenades, but I don’t think they need entire bandoliers of them. It’s making me feel like this is a Michael Bay film, expecting everything to explode all the time.

They could be power cells for the proton packs.

Also it looks like Kate is wearing an elbow pad or something on her left arm. I don’t think we’ve seen that before.

Hmm. There seem to be quite a few new gizmos in this flick. I think it serves some purpose besides protecting her elbow, I think I see wires on it? Maybe?

This has probably been mentioned before but especially with that last picture of Kate - I’m getting a Rachel Unglighter vibe. Mostly the hair probably.

So you’re glad that it doesn’t talk about scientists kicked out of Columbia University who sets up a Ghostbusting agency, who fight the paranormal with proton packs with the only difference being the Gb gender?

Because it is just like this. And their secretary running to help them reminds me of Louis in Gb2.

Well in terms of story I’m glad that they didn’t go the route of having some guy being haunted in his apartment and one of the ladies winds up with him because he is being menaced by something living in his fridge. That is what I meant by same story. I know the theme is there, but there are some tweeks. Only one of the ladies is getting laughed out of Columbia university not all three of them. The other two work at a not so respected college and are already wannabe Ghost Hunters. The fourth and final member works in the subway tunnels and has a run in with the stories antagonist and joins the team. It is not exactly the same story from the original Ghostbusters. I still think it could have worked as a sequel since it doesn’t seem that they’re mirroring it to the letter. No matter what this film manages to accomplish it still has to live in the original’s shadow. Good catch on the Hemsworth GB2 connection. I didn’t even think about that. I guess that little deal is our “Fun GB 2 Nod”

I am personally looking forward to the future bombardment of GB projects since IDW has made it clear that even if Tatum may not be interested in a new Ghostbusters project right now Ghost Corps is still moving ahead with other projects with Ivan and Dan at the wheel. Who knows, one of those projects still might be another film. That can’t be bad right? Here’s Hoping.

I’m crossing my fingers. IDW is great at crossing dimensions, tyeing continuities, expanding established franchises. They said some of their work is the base for Ghost Corps movies!

Ghost corp? I’m guessing I’ve missed something.

You know, the production company founded by Reitman and Aykroyd who’ll oversee every Gb related projects from now on, including new movies (Drew Pearce is writing, Russo brothers are producing a new one) tv series, games, cartoons and comic books.

Give me a new cartoon series based on IDW’s comics and I don’t even need movies…

I totally agree with this.

I wonder if they are planning on renaming Dan and Ivan’s Ghostbusters team the Ghost Corps. It sounds kind of like it would be a paramilitary Men In Black type of organization at that point.

Maybe they plan on going to Dan’s original time and dimension jumping route chasing ghosts and entities. It would have become a major organization at that point. This could be set in the future a century or two, having evolved from the private company Ghostbusters into an almost branch of the military or a special ops force.

Incursions into this dimension by entities from other times and planes of existence could have been steadily on the rise since 1984. Gozer could have been the one to originally breach the fabric of space/time and it’'s slowly been getting worse with every manifestation that forces it’s way into our realm.

Then it got to the point that more powerful entities were showing up here on a constant basis like the kaiju were in Pacific Rim. So the Ghost Corps were formed based on the technology of the old Ghostbusters. And if time travel is involved Ray and Winston could even be part of it since their experience in battling these beings would be useful.

Now that would be awesome. I could totally get behind that.

I guess I got a bit carried away and wandered away from the new equipment. Well if the Ghost Corps are dimension hopping that would be a way to meet up with the Feig Ghostbusters and they could get an equipment upgrade. Which reminds me didn’t the notes on the reboot packs mention something about the original power source was going to be tritium but there was something about it being confiscated? I wonder if the NRC will finally get involved since they are all essentially running around with radioactive isotopes in public.
