Has ANYONE come up with a build for a Proton Pack that actually shoots some kind of stream, whether it’s light, silly string, or whatever? Looking for an idea for where to start, what works, what doesn’t, please post your plans, failures, pains, strains, successes, and more here. I don’t care about movie accuracy, just something that looks cool and shoots something (preferably harmless). If there’s not anything and I come up with something, I will share it here. It is my mission.
I was thinking those little bottle things you can buy…you pull the string on the back and it puffs out confetti or streamers or whatever. I don’t know what they’re called, but they can be gotten at party stores.
There have been some slimeblowers that shoot silly string and foam but they also have the room in the cannon. One group has fired roman candles from the gun barrel however.
I’ve been mulling over an idea about this. My thought is to have a battery run leaf-blower stream of air out the barrel and then attach a silk tube or stream with a ragged edge to work as the “beam”. Thoughts?
The leaf blower thing sounds neat. I wonder what air flow you would need to make it look neat. A flickering LED light or something can also help with the effect.
I’d been considering the practicality and labor of making a “arm flailing tube man” type stream, and attaching a reel with monofiliment to it. When you turn on the lights/action a blower would engage and eject the fabric tube (and cause it to flap around). When the wand is turned off the reel would engage and retract the fabric casing - turning off the blower once the tube was retracted (to avoid comical limp stream).
I also tossed around the idea of adding a kids bubble gun to a slime blower.
