these grips were $3 a set when i got them. so they are about the same as resin grips, minus shipping. the grips are exactly what they are…a cheap, innaccurate alternative. most times when you go that route by the end of it you do end up spending more than it would cost to just order up some parts.
personally for me, sometimes this part is more fun and worth it. but not always.
the grips look ok on my first build, but there is no way i would use them on my second build.
Accurate reproduction stuff is nice, but you also end up getting nickel/dimed to death, when you start adding everything up.
Just a bumper, grips, and clippards and ribbon cable will run you almost $100 after shipping, and thats the entire cost of some people’s packs. So people cut corners wherever they can. I just bought two sets of resistors, and those ran me $30.
I made my grips out of about 50 cents worth of insuation foam. And I was lucky, and got two sets of the home depot grips for $7 total.
Thing is, for a halloween pack, its not a big deal if things are inaccurate. And for a casual GB, again its not super critical.
But when you invest in a $400 movie accurate shell, a $200 light n sound system, then accuracy becomes more mportant, and you are no longer just a casual GB fan, but have a much bigger investment and reason to have more accurate parts.
I wasn’t debating whether or not your paint you posted will stick or not or accuracy.
Oh and Zander the comment you made about the bar graph window, yes you are right although it depends on who’s light kit you use. I have a Proptronix kit in mine and had to modify the window a bit, I also installed an Exoray light kit in another box and removed the window frame completely as Exorays bar graph is longer and has it’s own frame , the window frame is just for reference and anyone building their gun is free to modify as needed.
Okay, I had been running around town trying to find the RUSTOLEOUM “Vinyl” paint…however, all I could find was like Krylon Fusion paint for PLASTICS…alot of “paint for Plastics”
I read the back of one of them, you know where it shows the “list” of what you can use it on.
One of it included HARD Vinyl (I think these grips are rubber of some kind)…OR…“Hard to bond Surfaces” as it also says on the back of the CAN.
Would this be just as good?
Otherwise, I can just hang these plastic grips up with the tacky paint and it’d make for a great fly catcher, LOL
It’s weird, imagine paint never drying…just tacky infinitely.
