i know there were many similar threads to this one, but are there any other good places that I can find the blue powercell lights? I know about the Knight-whatever website in England, but anywhere else?
Radio shack makes a good 12v 20w light bulb, just use like 15 of them. I think the lights exoray puts in his pack are just as bright. On the weekend of halloween every time I turned around to show someone my pack I accidentally blinded them
Bulbs and LEDs are measured differently, so there is really no way to compare “brightness” of bulbs to LEDs… You can get an estimated guess but it’s really not accurate, as it’s a different kind of light… Bulbs give off light in every direction and it’s not even, LEDs give light off a focused forward cone of even brightness… There are whole pages on websites devoted to trying to explain this in more detail…
I use 4000 mcd @ 20? for the blue ones and 4500 mcd @ 40? or 45? for the red ones, and yes they hurt your eyes if you look directly at them…
 Yah hahahaha they do !
okay. I’m thinking about ordering the lights form that knight place in great britan. if I were to get it, how would we light it up? what battery packs would be required for it?
I can only say again, if you can get Exorays lights, do so. It’s the complete deal, one circuit, both sets of lights, and they really just made a difference with my pack (pictures coming soon!), which whilst not 100% accurate atm, the flashing lights on the pack, tooled up with a well placed glowstick in the tip of the gun… Best Halloween party ever. The entire house was in low lighting (no main room lights, all candles, lamps), so it worked even better…

I know it’s against the rules to say but I have to agree. Plus the fact that I just drew up the plans to modify his light kit to both lighten it’s weight in the pack, and make it easily rechargable. Plus the fact that his are affordable, and adjustable on their speed. I love them in my pack! They made it very bad-ass and noticeable, and at the haunted house the light effect looked sooooo cool when we walked through the faux smoke from the fog machine
i realize that Exoray’s lights are great, but I already have the cyclotron lights, and only need the powercell lights. it sucks that he doesn’t sell them seperate, though… ![]()
Limited budgets make you rely on your brainpower. For me, as long as it looks like a duck, it is a duck. Alternate use for powercell would be a sweeper bar light from Advanced Auto Parts. If this is not agianst the board rules, although I think not.
It’s awesome. I like ity a lot.
can someoone pm me and let me know how much exoray’s light kits are? I’m planning a pack if not 2 for next halloween and need to get some “lighting for dummies kits” (I know jack about lighting and wiring )
parma, I tried the route of the sweeper lights from Advance Auto, but the only way (that my dad and I know) to light them is to put a heavy 12 volt battery, the kind that goes into cars, into the pack to light it up. we thought we’d take two 6 volts and do it like that, but it’d be just as heavy. is there an alternative way to light it up without the heavy batteries..?
…well, to tell you the truth, a 9 volt did it for me. I’m no expert at so,e things and some electrical things do befuddle me. I asked the board before I went on my venture and the 9 volt worked just fine. Don’t know what to tell you other than that.
great. did it come with a battery pack, or did u have 2 get one? how did u put it together?
…the 2 that I had gotten came with bare wire ends. ALSO the same 2 came with an on/off/function swith which allows for strobe, full flash, steady and off. The only thing is that even though the strobes are off, there is a green light indicator which shows you have power but also drains thebattery if not completely taken off 1 of the battery terminals. Easily done though after a night of 'bustin.
Are these lights easy to install even as a novice??? because the hyperdyne lights are way to expensive and my former graphic arts teacher let me use the vacuform machine for my pack
…as an old commerciall used to say…“so simple, a child can do it”.
or like the Geico commercials: “So simple, a caveman can do it!” lol.
is there an alternative way to light it up without the heavy batteries..?
Quite a few options.
You could use 8 AA batteries, 8 C batteries, or 8 D batteries. You can get a battery holder for any of those combinations at Radio Shack.
Another option is the small 12 volt batteries. They look like a AAA but are about half the length. I’m sure the guys at radio shack could point you to them. Also, I’ve seen them at Home Depot in the section with the wireless doorbell systems.
I haven’t wired any of these options up yet but I plan on using 8 AA’s. As far as I know, the larger the battery the longer it will run. So the single miniature 12volt battery would last the least amount of time, and the 8 D batteries would last the longest.
I’ve seen alot of people use a 9 volt battery and I suppose that works fine. But you’re using a 9 volt supply to power a device capable of sucking up 12 volts… so my theory would be that it would run dead faster. But they are very small and light.
Good luck with it!
These are what me and my friends used.
Blue LED scanner for car alarm
We just used a 9v battery to run them and they looked great. I could be mistaken but I believe underpowering the leds will just make them dimmer, not run the battery down faster. The lights were still plenty bright even beneath two layers of window tint
i just got some LED’s from Auto Zone that look pretty good. and tested using a 9 volt, and it’s great! now im going to try 2 rig it so it’ll be activated my a toggle switch either on the gun, or on the side like in the hotel scene in the first GB film. probably the side. ^_^. but thanks to you all for ur suggestions and tips!!!
