It would’ve been nice if they could’ve said something a tad sooner, but at least things look to be getting back on track despite the huge pothole Activision made. A shame though that the October release has been scrapped because that would’ve been perfect.
Although Activision made a business decision, they really screwed over all GB fans waiting for this game. What I can’t understand is that they have been the main producers of any previous ghostbusters games, bringing us the joy of guiding matchstick men past a rather small Stay Puft. I just didn’t see the logic.
I’m that dissappointed that I have decided to not buy any Activison games released for a while. That means that I’ll just have to miss out on COD WOW and 007 later this year.
Ill tell you guys what i didnt know if i could take anymore but knowing that theire so close to lokcing the deal in with a new partner I dont care anymore how long it takes its finally comming out.
Probably, but as I said at PC, when I passed the Atari area at PAX, I kept thinking that maybe they should publish it and after reading the rumour about EAP or Atari, considering how strangely things work out for me in these types of areas, I’m actually thinking it probably will be Atari.
No, I don’t think I’m pyshic lol, I’m just going by past experiences in situations like this.
I’ll definitely third this opinion. You know maybe we could do some kind of open letter to the developers about what fans would like to see and then maybe like gb.net, protoncharging, spookcentral, gbfans etc., could post it. I mean they have extra time, maybe they’ll be looking for ideas.
I would just like to say that customizable player would DEFINITELY be the one thing I’d like to see incorporated with this extra time.
I’ll agree with that. Thing is you could name your character, but the other cast could still call you Rookie as you are just the latest in a line of recruits. So then there is no need for any new voice overs to be recorded, but you feel a part of the Ghostbusters experience.
You know what would be awesome, an homage to all us fans here waiting on the boards - especially the patient ones.
I’d like to see a bad ass scene where two kids are playing in a dark alley, and then suddenly, behind them, a dark shadow against the light of the streets, is a monster. It slowly drags itself closer and closer. The kids turn around and are mortified. They scream… but a sound echo’s just in the distance just above their scream. A familiar siren. The creature prepares to pounce, but just before it can, the ECTO-1 screeches around the corner and hits the #@$er, sending him flying into the back wall. All we see is the familiar headlights of the awesome miller-meteor and the siren. The door opens. We see the boots. They walk up to the kids, and we hear the familiar click of the weapons. the creature is wounded, but still determined. It gets up, prepares to strike, and leaps. In mid air, several streams blast the everliving @#(%( out of it. It moans horribly. Near the kids, we see gentle hands in gloves lean down and quickly give the kid a pat on the head. Then, the gloved hand produces a trap, which he gently slides out. The man grabs the kids, hugging them to shield their eyes. There’s a flash of light, a howling, a screaming, then a soft click, and nothing but flashing blue lights. The kids get up and smile, and we see the silouettes of THE GHOSTBUSTERS.
They climb back into the car, and being to pull out. The theme we’re all familiar with and love begins to play as the car backs into the light of the street. The kids look at each other amazed.
I hope that they can try and get the game out maybe march that would be nice. Also for a treat i think someone already mentioned this earlier but on halloween giving us the demo that we all seen on the show floor at e3 shit would be hot. lol but one can only dream.
Jusr curious how many of you guys think its EA or Atari?
Personally, my money is on either EA or Ubisoft. I would then put Sega in a distant 3rd runner-up position.
Like I said in another topic, I really don’t think a Japanese publisher is going to pick this game up, outside of Konami or Sega. Japan tends to hold American developers in low regard and rarely fully understand the Western market. Japanese games sell well in America, but rarely do American games sell well in Japan. Just one of those cultural differences. It has a lot to do with the violent content in Western games. First-Person Shooter (FPS) bias is thrown around at times.
EA is now behind the new mega-sized publisher Activision Blizzard, so they may want to take this game off their hands. They got the money and resources to do it too. EA has been involved in hostile takeover bids with Ubisoft and Take-Two recently.
Ubisoft is always looking to increase and expand its portfolio. They have the money and resources to make it happen.
I believe Mark Randell(I think) maybe it was Ryan French said they weren’t going to do a character customization. It was either to have room for everything else or to make it more like you’re experiencing the third movie. I can’t remember but remember the way he said it, it made a lot of sense and didn’t bother me.
Lets be realistic here guys… the basic structure and stages of the game are completed by the developer terminal reality. the extra time is only going to be for bug testing and fine tuning things. they wont add new modes or stages..
or things like adding drivable ecto 1. probaly could add some new unlockables and bonuses however and polish it up a bit.
and they wouldn’t be able to add any more dialog because good luck getting all four guys back for it… especially bill murray .
so i wouldn’t expect any real big changes from what we have seen already.. it will be the game we were supposed to get this october.. just a little later is all.
It will probably play better than if it had come out in October. The later release date will give them they need to fine-tune all the game’s sequences.
There have always been games that have come out too early based on the schedule that had been set months before and needed more time so the game balance tuning would go from “OK” to “Great.” Ghostbusters just got that opportunity!
We don’t need more stuff, we need what’s planned to be executed as good as they can do.
I don’t know, the “create-a-buster” idea is something I could see them doing with the extra time, but adding a game mechanic like driving the Ecto (which would also make for uneven gameplay) to the game just plain odd. I say stick with the original concept and the player model, just give it a nice scrub with a scotchbrite pad to make everything nice and shiny and smooth. I don’t want any glitches with this setback.
This is definitely good news, if it is true. I wish they could just come out and make an official announcement. I’m sick of all the rumors. I mean, this one seems very credible, but it is still a rumor. If it is true, though, this is really good news. It’s a shame that it won’t come out this year, but we could pretty much have figured that was bound to happen once the delay was announced.
Hopefully they can get the game out soon. Hopefully, maybe they can take the extra time to really polish the game. I am just hoping that some good can come of this mess. But, if this rumor proves to be true, I’ll be sad that we aren’t getting the game on time, but much more so, I’ll be so happy that we have finally received confirmation that we WILL be getting the game. The uncertainty has been the worst part of this all.
If and this seems like a huge if there was custom char creation the greatest thing they could do would let you use your own face like tom clancys rainbow 6 on the 360 with the vision camera that would make me the happiest man on the planet to see your self hanging out with the other busters.
I was at game stop today and they had a new issue of game informer that they give out to the stores and it had a two page article about GB the game. Pretty much talking about how it was dropped but not cancled and walked us through levels we have all ready seen.
still cool though. had really nice screen shots. game looks great.
