still doesn’t tell us anything specific. Until I’m told otherwise by something official, I’m just gonna believe that the game is not coming out till next year…this way if it comes earlier, I’ll be happier 
Thanks for sharing that, though. At least the finally is kind of new news. I hadn’t heard that before. It does kind of imply that they may be close to finding a new publisher, not to mention that it said Sony may do it by themselves if they have to. Hopefully this is true. For now, I’ll just assume that it isn’t true so as not to get my hopes up, though. Hopefully it is true, and we finally get closure on this whole fiasco. Even if I don’t like the end result, I’ll at least be happy to know, and if the game does get released, I’ll be happy that we at least are getting it and it didn’t get cancelled.
Ill be real with you boys I think this game will come out in October. Te only reason why im saying this is because if sony is going to back the launch themselves than I dont think they want to wait till next year to try and fire it out due to the sick hype it has now. Also the dates did change for Europe their game got delayed till quarter 3 meaning march and june but iv been reading our updates online for the U.S and everything seems to be on track if you go to game stop they have the cover for the strat guide if this thing was going to be delayed they would have said ti already like they did with Europe that’s what i think at least.
Well, I wouldn’t be so sure about that. Wasn’t Sony the ones saying they may push the game back to next year to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the movie? Doesn’t sound to me like they are too concerned with when the game comes out, just as long as it comes out. Until we hear official word, I wouldn’t read anything into all these rumors.
Here’s the deal. I talked to a sony rep yesterday at best buy and brought up the gb game. They said it was definately gonna be pushed back to 2009 for the coinsiding with 25th anniversary as of now but, They did say that it is possible that if a publisher is found before october then it would be released on the release date we know of. so there is a good chance both ways.

Yeah i mean i can beleiev a rep saying that but also at the same time i do agree with you as well since they did find a new publisher which they did from what im reading on the ign update last night i think this is going to come out when it is supposed to. ANother thing to i looked at the Europe site that they buy there games from its looks staggered if you check it out ps3 is comming out when it supposed to and the ps2 version but the wii ds are in nov and xbox are pushed back to 2009 so who the hell knows. Not going to believe anythign until i hear an official word that its delayed.
I talked to a Gamestop guy and asked if it was still coming out in October, and he said yes. Not like it’s a Sony Rep, but, you figure those guys would know. I have ordered pre-orders of action figures and sites had estimated ship dates that got pushed back, but I guess we will just wait and see. If i was Sony, I wouldn’t wait for the 25th anniversary. Sell a bunch of games and the DVD of RGB and Bluray now. Fans buy it, tell their friends. Their friends buy it, stuff gets reviewed on blogs. This is all buzzing, and then BAM! 25th anniversary. Then, you bring out the big guns when everyone is all gaga about the GB’s. Gentle Giant scanned packs, official traps, jumpsuits, ectogoggles, figures, hats, underwear, etc. If they wait, fans get pissed, people lose interest, etc. Here’s hoping for October…

I mean, Sony didn’t know that next year was the 25th anniversary? they didn’t know Activision was buying out Sierra? Talk about bad intel. ya she still is for sure I’m over it now. If they game comes out next year so be it that will give me time to work on my pack and stuff…I seen a preview for an x-play episode saying there where going to explain why Activision is the new evil empire of video games. I’m pretty sure its because there not going to publish the new 50 cent game.
Hey guys just want to post this information up I found on the G4 website under the feed let me know what you think about this. However from reading this i still feel this game isnt getting delayed at all and if so I think we would have heard something by now. I mean just look at other games like socom got delayed real quick haze so I mean who knows I think personally were still going to see this game come out in october. Check this article out.

Sony Pictures, who caught the ‘Ghostbusters’ rights, said to Variety that the recent complications with the publisher opened “an opportunity to reevaluate the game release marketing strategy to potentially coincide with the 25th anniversary of the original film in '09.”

Activision released as press release stating which releases it would be doing from Sierra.. all others are being sold to another publisher or cancelled. The game is being delayed. It is up to another publisher to continue marketing and getting everything out there.
Reading into a lot of quotes about the game etc, there is no definitive proof that the game has been delayed. The Sony quote was that the game may potentially be put back to coincide with the 25th anniversary. Potentially, not definately. I think that we can summise the following,

The game will come out. Too much for Sony to lose financially. The franchise is still a big seller and with the DVD RGB’s sets and blu-ray of the films, it shows that there is still a lot to run in Ghostbusters. Also the interest in the Zootfly demo showed the demand for the game.

If a publisher is found in the next few weeks, the game will come out as planned in Autumn, for all platforms. It may take a short delay due to production scheduling etc, but more or less on time. That is unless the new publisher agrees with Sony in pushing it back.

If no publisher is found, then Sony will take it themselves. Then it will potentially be pushed back to 2009.
Also interestingly I managed to find on the UK shop Game’s website that the release dates were up for the game. More interestingly the PS3 version is set for Oct 08, PS2 for Nov 08. What about the PC and X360? Well, strangely the dates for these platfroms were set for March 2009. Now, before the argument as to game shops not knowing the actual dates, I check the site quite a lot, and I’m sure a few weeks ago the release date was put down for all platforms as TBD or something just as unambiguous.
Now, whilst not conclusive, could this mean that Sony are now planning on releasing the PS3 version 6 months in advance of it’s competitors, as a semi-exclusive, to try boost PS3 sales for Xmas? That could be an interesting ploy by Sony, and one I thought may happen if they do get their hands on the publishing rights to the game.

Seriously I noticed the same thing on the UK site all the release dates were staggerd. Now for Sony to fire the game out to try and boost sales I agree. Also I understand what you been saying AJ with the delay but the IGn article did say it will be published we dont know who exactly but this is comming from the developer I can give two shit what activision has to say anymore, from my stand point they can go fuck themselves for doing this in the first place. Also Uk sometimes gets word of things before we do for some reason and for this website of games that are sold has those staggerd release dates before we seen anything here.
