Well to begin with I have a good old replica of a gb2 trap. While it’s nice, it’s just way too damn heavy. Sucker weighs about 10 plus pounds. I recently made a tactical version of a holster thanks to the assistance of one of our fine members who came up with the name (can’t remember who but here’s your props!) and build. To my misfortune the weight of the trap just would not work with it. Aside from swinging all over the place like a mace, it kept pulling my belt down to the point I had to just toss the thing off. So I find myself wondering if I am just screwed with wearing this thing or not. I am looking at a trap holster from a wonderful crafter and seller on here, Anachron I think he goes by? -talk about being lazy and not looking up member names- I am curious what you guys think. With the thick backing do you think there is a chance it won’t pull down on the belt as much? Has any one else on here ever hit this problem? Thanks for the input guys and gals!
I find the best thing to do with the tactical holsters is to add a thigh strap, really keeps it from swinging around. as far as the pulling your belt down, can’t really help. I use a matty trap. With all the gear I carry, that does drag the belt down, but I just tightened it up more, although I don’t know how helpful that is since your weight is concentrated to one spot.
I too have to tighten my belt extra tight when I have everything on and I’m using a Matty trap. I am using Franchesky’s trap holder (which is the one you were looking at).
I made mine from foam EVA flooring. It’s insanely lightweight and I’m not out an insane amount of money if it gets damaged.
I haven’t specifically tried it with a trap on my leg but I can tell you that some quality double sided carpet tape works wonders in keeping the belt exactly where you want it when weighed down. You just take a strip or two, place it on the inside of the belt and carefully put it on where you want it to sit. It’s tacky enough that you can undo/re-stick it a few times to adjust but it wont move once you place it.
Again, I’ve only had about 5-10lbs hanging off mine but it was so strong I’d be surprised if it didn’t at least help reign in the belt with a trap on it and it’s pretty cheap. Here’s the stuff that I use as some brands/types are considered “permanent” and can damage fabrics. This stuff seems to come off just fine.

Yeah, it didn’t seem to cause any permanent stickiness or issues but just to be safe make sure you remove all of it each time you put the belt away. Hope it works out for ya.
