RIT DYES & TRU SPEC : the Legend Continues

So,

dyed the Khaki Tru-Spec in in 2 Pearl Grey RITS in hot water in the bath tub (seperate times). Like the look but seems to be a little greyer than I would like. realize that color will fade a bit in a few days, but I must admit that I’d like to find that happy medium between grey + khaki. Any suggestions. Think a quick dye in color remover would help the cause? Jesus, this is worse than chemistry class!

Don’t use grey. The suits were khaki.

If you want to match the tone of the vintage khaki suits, use a small amount of purple RIT.

Listen to Jairus…he knows his dyes!

Derek

He also knows his dies!!!

Dies!!!

See his family owns a mortuary…get it?

dies.

Is this thing on?

Goddamn it.

Anyway listen to Jairus.

I’ll be here all week,goodnight!

So i have a tan nomex flight suit, how much exactly is a little bit Jairus ??

I don’t think it will work on a nomex.

Nomex won’t take dye very well, the best you could hope for is to tint it slightly (I did this–I think I used two boxes–and personally like they way it came out).

i was lucky enough to find a nomex on ebay that is extremely close to the color used int he movies. You think dying a TRU SPEC to movie tone is rough? try the rothco. took me 3 tries while slightly tweaking the recipe.

Yeah tried 2 boxes. it didnt really work on my nomex. It died the velcro pieces grey but the suit is still basically tan. Thinking maybe 3 boxes , less water, may help, or trying a color stripper first.

I don’t know if a color stripper would do much on Nomex…somehow doubt it.

I used 3 boxes, and only half a bucket of water. Turned out pretty good. It’s not 100% grey but it is definitely not tan. I’m def satisfied with the results.
