Sorry if this is a pathetic question - I’m sure I must be missing something obvious in my heat addled brain (as an Englishman with hyperhidrosis SoCal summers are the suckiest) - but has anyone mounted the black fire button from the GBFans kit into the TC V3H thrower trigger box? I simply can’t get the ■■■■■■ to fit. My only thought at this point has been to drill out the hole larger and inser from the front, but that looks like it would leave it sitting way too high.
I was also thinking maybe cutting off the lead and re-solder afterwards? But it looks to me like I’d have to trim the connections way down to get her at an angle that’d fit.
Any advice would be super helpful, and again, sorry if this is a rather daft question.
I do feel rather silly asking. But I actually have that set, as i’d heard about the snugness issue - the set only includes the toggle switches though, not the fire button. Once I stop the small rainstorm from my brow for more than five minutes I’ll take another peeks. I may have just been being overly cautious for fear of damage the connectors.
try drilling the hole for the switch, insert it on an angle and push it up through the hole for the button; the threaded part goes through the material, not underneath it; the hole drilled for the switch doesn’t need to be size for size! :mrgreen:
That’s what I had done, but I just can’t seem to get the angle to feed the bugger in from the inside. The thread seems to feed in easily when testing from the outside.
Again I’m probably just being overly cautious. I’ll try drilling out the hole a wee bit larger and see if that gets me the angle from inside.

Many of us have been through this challenge. There’s some more info on that, here, and also mentioned in my build thread. Use my build as an example of what NOT to do. :oops:
Everyone here has already made some great suggestions already, but I’ll add that you may need to trim the heat shrink down a little on the bottom of the switch or remove it altogether so the wires bend more easily. Be careful not to cut the wires if you do that. You could also de-solder the wires and re-solder them at a different angle if you feel comfortable doing that.
EDIT: Oh and I didn’t realize this when I did mine, but you can pull the top off the button which might help when putting it in. It just pulls off and then you can snap it back in once the base is inserted through the trigger box hole.
Thanks for the responses fellas - I went back at it today with a more level (and cooler) head, and managed to get the button in (and only for a test fit, of all things).

Aye indeed - I was able to sneak the smaller switch is fairly easily. Tis why I was surprised by the fire button - hadn’t anticipated getting stumped there. But thanks again for the tip!
I’m getting ready to tackle the ear button and light this evening maybe - a little nervous on that but I see you disassembled them in the end, thinking that’s the way to go.
