Battlefield 1942 is now free to play. So let’s relive some great game moments from 11 years ago!

Step 1: Download Origin from EA. Yeah yeah, it’s terrible. Download the EA app – Powering next generation of PC gaming - Electronic Arts

Step 2: Download Battlefield 1942. It’s in the Demo section, but ignore that. Just download it. Should take about 30 minutes, tops. Battlefield – Electronic Arts

Start the game! And join the GBfans server!

Step 3: Click MULTIPLAY, and then INTERNET

Step 4: Click ADD SERVER

Step 5: Type in the following IP address (67.164.178.120) and click JOIN. Don’t click “Add”.

Step 6: When it asks for a password, type ionarm.

I got only a couple of caps from playing tonight. Some of that stuff happens is way to quick to capture, and other times way too funny to coherently find the “PRINT SCREEN” button! Here’s what I did get!

I was having a bit of car trouble when good ole AJ Quick stopped by to help me out! See that symbol on the side with the skull and crossbones? That means there are landmines nearby! What a pal! He also gave me a complimentary stick of dynamite. Here on the GBFans BF1942 server we really look out for each other.

I didn’t get Harry Ramsbottom, but man that Henry Werner (MORE LIKE WEINER) was giving me a rough time tonight.

Anyway. We gave Chace a nice warm welcome today. Got his seat nice and warm and cozy in the jeep. RPD and I are great hosts.

It’s just as well, I spent most of the time re-learning the controls…and playing bumper cars with Vee.

Is the server still up? Can’t seem to connect. Before I start rifling through the router settings, though I’d check.

Since the server is just Kevin’s computer, you’d have to check with him to make sure it is running.

I had a really amazing shot today. I threw a grenade at 8 guys and they all flew up into the air at once. It was stunning.

looks like fun. I’d try it, but I downloaded System Shock 2 from GOG.com this morning and that is what Im playing tonight.
