Just all part of the lightening up of the Real Ghostbusters as it was felt that it was too “dark”. Remember they showed up at around the same time a Slimer became the “Star” of the show, Peter got neutered and Janine went from hard ass secretary with a heart of gold and a mouth of a teamster to the damsel in distress who constantly worried about the guys and fawned over everything. Yeah laura’s Janine fawned but only over Egon.
