just saw the tweeted images of the new ecto wanted to get other peoples reactions. tho it is close to some of the original concept art, from the original movies, i feel it dosent have the feel of being its own charector in the movie like the original ecto did. what dose the everyone else think?

The comical 3 foot yellow bucket on the roof of that car is a parody.
It’s simply a parody/joke on the original Ghostbusters movie. Nothing else can explain it. That or it’s purely a women’s movie. Some women might think, haha a 3 foot bucket siren on the roof that’s comedy! The dumber the funnier.
In any case, yeah, a real let down. So much for believable assets.
Edit: Still I can’t understand why they would name this movie Ghostbusters, use the original logo and name the car Ecto-1?
It has nothing to do (story wise) with the original. There is no point in searching for a scripted explanation story wise why the assets (logo, names, etc.) are the same. There isn’t one.

It’s a merchandising decision. The logo, the name Ecto-1, the name Ghostbusters, all sell, all are worth revenue.
They must be included, the backstory will be squeezed to fit the merchandising requirements. It will be some nonsensical story why the car is called Ecto-1. Bah, it makes no sense, it’s all fake. Just merchandising driven. I hate this fakeness, makes me sick.
It’s just a complete clone movie… a carbon copy using all of the assets thought out by Aykroyd and Ramis. No artistic originality. How can these artist movie makers feel contented?

Then again the whole movie is a cash grab on an 80’s franchise.. Same name, same logo, just a clone movie copying everything.

i feel by using a hearse they steer off of the new aproach they are trying to take and try to re-do something that has already been done, and done as well as the original.
the original Ecto-1 was such an iconoc car and visually striking there are plenty of fan ectos that prove ANY vehical could be used but by using a hearse it just pails in comparison

I wish that if it was going to be another GB movie it would be a sequel using the original cast and director.
But I think we have to live with reality, it is going to happen this way. From this starting point, I intend to enjoy as much as possible, of course… Is it a money grab? Well of course. Aren’t movies a business?
But did they chose some obscure director and cast? No.. Incidentally, they chose a team that has been on a winning streak. Spy is a success and it made me laugh too. I think we’re lucky that Ghostbusters is going to be revived by this team, at least. I think the franchise was treated with the respect it deserved here.
About quality, we can only judge the quality of it all after we see the movie from start to end, I think. And if we try to compare everything to the original side by side it will always look worse simply because it’s different.
I love music and no one thinks that an original song is killed when a new cover sucks. The original is still there for us to enjoy and compare:).
And probably this new movie will bring new young fans to the franchise (including a lot of girls, I suppose ; ) ) that will then discover the old movies as well.
i dont feel that the originals being males hindered female fans i mean check out the fans on here there are a lot of female ghostbusters fans hell my dayghter fell in love with the movie when she was 7

I was so fixed on the bucket light in the front that I just noticed the red low profile lightbar in the back.

Maybe it changes from scene to scene? Now THAT could actually be funny.
But that would take a plan and an eye for detail. 
Exactly as I feel. I’ve literally seen some posters (not on this board) who say exactly one of those things, then see the designs and say something completely different. Some people are just against this film and there’s nothing Feig and company can do to change it.
I’m a male, and so I can’t comment, but my wife told me last night that growing up her only choice when playing with friends was to be the secretary who occasionally busted ghosts when the guys were too busy. Seeing what she has so far, she has gone from a casual fan of Ghostbusters that will watch it whenever I ask to a fan that is head over heels in love with it. Of course, the movie itself will need to be good to keep that going, but she is very, very excited. She’s also not a big feminist or anything.
For one, she’s happy that the Halloween costumes won’t all be skimpy outfits with her butt cheeks hanging out. I’m not happy about that one…

After reading all the comments, here are my thoughts.
It’s not bad.
Sure it may not look like the original but think about it this way, a 59 meteor costs a small fortune if you can find one that’s not rusting away in some junk yard. That’s not including converting it into an ecto. But wait, what about the Original car? It’s still a 59 and parts for that car are hard to come by, I think they had to get a windshield from south Africa when they were doing the restoration. If something were to break they’d be fucked. So, it makes sense that they’d go with an 84 Hearse.
The equipment on the roof is getting a lot of hate, but to me it looks like they are trying to go with a practical look. What can be bought in a store. I’ve never seen blue light bars but I’ve seen those big yellow lights.
I don’t know about the rest of you but I’m getting the feeling that the guys who are designing the equipment are looking at fan made stuff for inspiration. The stuff that doesn’t look screen accurate.
That was my worst fear when I heard they were doing the remake.
Really could’ve done a better job. It’s like they went to no effort to make it actually look cool. The Equipment needs more bulk. It’s just too little ontop of the roof. Like the rear part of the hearse.. they could have removed whatever that swivel thing is on the side.. and added some tubing to go in it. It really doesn’t look like the Equipment up top is intergrated into the car.
I am very disappointed with the new Ecto-1. Yes, I understand I am just another fan of the franchise that is talking down on this movie and it’s aspects, but I have every right to. True fans of something don’t just blindly follow or like everything in a franchise just because. I am going to see this film in theaters and perhaps I’m going to change my mind on it, but as of right now, I am not a fan of the car. I think it is a poor choice and that huge yellow siren on the top just makes it look too campy and ridiculous. I just think it’s just a lazy attempt at making something new.
