Boogieman Comenth
The Thing In Mrs. Favisham’s Attic was great too. Egon’s line “Okay, fat squirrels! Playing basketball! Happy?!” always cracks me up.
Storywise, my favorite episode is Citizen Ghost, followed by Flip Side.
My science-loving side gets a kick out of The Collect Call of Cathulhu, because the part where Egon describes how the proton beams will ionize the structure of the rollercoaster and that will attract a lightning is scientifically sound and all terms are used correctly.
That episode also some great one-liners like, “How come the particle beams never work on those…whatever they are. Have you been buying discount protons again Egon?”
Citizen Ghost is my all time favorite, I love the idea of evil doubles of the RGB’s and also getting to see what happening following the events of the first movie. Also it is nice to see all of the guys besides Ray Stantz in the tan jumpsuits. Following this episode here is a short list of some of my other favorites.
The Boogeyman Cometh
Mr. Sandman dream me a dream
Something’s going around (100th episode from the 1989 season)
Janine You’ Changed
I remember that from when I was a kid and thinking “Wow, Real Ghostbusters from when they were in the film!” Many years later, Citizen Ghost came out as a bonus feature on the green DVD release of the GB films.
I don’t count this episode as a particular favourite because by the time I got the RGB set I’d already seen the episode dozens of times. Feels too old hat.
Too many favorites too name (love 'em all) , but if I had to choose on the spot guess it would be “Mrs. Rogers Neighborhood” , “Ain’t NASA-sarily So”, and “The Copycat”
The Copycat is another favorite of mine, great jokes all around with everyone trying to make sense of the copycat’s pretending to be Peter, Janine and Egon among other items. Also nice to see the Terror Dogs again. I also really enjoyed The Collect Call of Cathulhu due to the top notch writing and animation, along with the fact the Ghostbusters called in help to deal with the monster at the end.
I always liked Follow That Hearse. There’s just something hilariously cool about Ecto-1 taking off on its own and trying its damnedest to kill the Ghostbusters.
the cabinet of calamari, ghost buster of the year, drool the dog faced goblin, the flip side, doctor doctor, who you calling 2 dimensional,Ghost Fight at the OK Corral…is that to many? lol
Wow, I haven’t had this conversation in years, but it’s validating to see that my top three favorites are ranked so consistently among my fellow fans’ faves. I used to rate the episodes on a combination of factors in this log that I kept of every episode. Some had good writing, but lackluster animation. Some had good animation, but mediocre writing. I ranked The Hole In The Wall Gang at the very bottom of the list for its unbeatable combo of bad writing and bad animation.
But my top three… the ones I considered to have the best animation and the best writing?
#3 Citizen Ghost (the animation at the beginning it a little inferior, or it would rank higher)
#2 The Collect Call of Cathulhu
And #1… Knock Knock. I can watch that one over and over. I especially love the tour guide in limbo. “And what’s that over here? Oh, I’m sorry… More dirt!”
I remember having a store-bought VHS of Knock Knock, in addition to all of my taped-off-the-air episodes. One time, I had just loaded it in the VCR and was reading the back of the case. There’s a line, something like “Mom’s right, it’s a good idea to knock before entering…” And just then my mother came to my door and said “Knock knock!” in this Southern singsong delivery. Pretty freaky the timing of it.
Alex
Although the syndicated season had some cool episodes, none of them rank as my favorites. I list mine by seasons.
Mrs. Roger’s Neighborhood/Mr. Sandman, Dream Me A Dream
Big Trouble With Little Slimer
There’s Something Going Around
Elementary, My Dear Winston
Towards the end of Season 5, the Ghostbusters started to look all weird and “waxy”, almost stoned-looking. And the ghosts all started to look generic-looking, especially compared to the first season where each main ghost had it’s unique features and even personalities. I just can’t bare to watch the last two seasons. They make my teeth itch.
I just bought RGB volume 1 to turn my eighteen month year old son into a ghosthead, can’t wait!!

Mine is ‘‘The Peoplebusters’’ episode.
That’s tough. I really love “knock, knock”, “bustman’s holiday”, “collect call to cathulhu”, “deadcon 1”, “the cabinet of calamari”, and finally “the devil to pay”

Seems my favorites stay the same. I’d like to put “Janine, you’ve changed” at the top, then “Egon’s ghost”. Good eps focusing on Egon or the two interacting are great in my book. “The Boogieman cometh”, “Egon’s dragon”, “Egon on the rampage”, “Slimer, is that you?”, “Cry Uncle” and that kind
Otherwise “No one comes to Lupusville” for the somewhat dark story, “Citizen ghost” for providing background and the spectral versions of the guys, “The collect call of Cathulhu” for a great take on H.P Lovecraft and “Ragnarok and roll” for characters and that doomsday scenario because of a man and a woman.
Prefer early production and all that JMS quirky fun. Learned that the poultry obsession is because his writing quarters were above a chicken restaurant and he hated the smell, Thus “Chicken, he clucked”.
Here goes a few more eps of choice:
The thing in Mrs. Faversham’s attic
Knock Knock easily
I always prefer the darker more serious episodes. Like Alex, I can watch this again and again.
The man who never reached home is another dark one. Great stuff
Knock Knock
Mrs. Rogers Neighborhood
These were all very dark and creepy, which I really like the best. I’m sure I’m forgetting a few others.
