I was just on ign.com being bored and checking out some game stuff and seen the shot of the Wii pack. i thought since the version on Wii was more cartoony that they would use the RGB pack…but they kinda went with their own design on this one.
i just dont understand why they just cant use the actual design of the pack. i mean, the wii version is so close. why not just make it look the way it should?
i gotta agree the game looks really RGB so why not use the Rgb packs i mean the wii version is aimed more for multiplayer and probably (i’m not sure) for younger kids becuase of how much it resembles an rgb style
yeah it looks good but i just think it looks like a kinda stirpped down version of the movie ones but completely gray and lacking stray wires and a few lights aside from that they look pretty close to the ones from the movie they’re nice but it would be cooler to have rgb ones as a reference to the series as this version of the game will be more cartoony
Keep in mind most Wii games have the option of being right or left handed, I wouldn’t be suprised if there is a left handed and right handed model to use.
I dont know. i kind of like this version even if it has never been seen/done until the game. it seems like an easy build prop so who knows maybe you guys will see the “Wii Pack Build” up as one of my builds
The designs for the RGB packs might belong to the animation company, which means the game designers had to do their own based on the designs that Sony owns.
I know that sounds goofy, but what happens these days has a lot to do with marketing. For instance, Hellboy - There’s the comic, live-action movie and animated versions. Each looks different and unique - not to piss off the fans - but because this way Mike Mignola gets to earn money from the action figures from each separate version (and he does too). The same happens in a lot of other areas which is why some DVDs never seem to get released even though there’s a huge demand from fans. The Tick TV show and comic were not allowed to use any characters from the cartoon show for similar reasons…
The thing to keep in mind is the whole Wii/PS2 version is highly stylised, hence why the Pack isn’t ‘on model’ to the design of the films. Like the pack and costume, I suspect the Ecto-1, PKE Meter, Trap, Firehouse and Containment will all be stylised and probably have a lot of new design elements to them.
I quite like this interpretation of the Proton Pack, it still homages the original but also injects a nice bit of originality which they can call their own.
Agreed with Kingpin. It looks close enough for me for being a stylized simplified version. I bet once everyone gets their hands on it and gets into some new age video game Ghostbusting, no one will give it a second though
yeah it is the wii when it came to design they probably wanted to keep it simple
does anyone else look at the character wearing the pack and think the gloves look kinda like oven mitts or is it just me, i know they aren’t but i can’t tel if it’s because they are just really big or if the wii version characters will not have fingers (the weird glove like hand they have in games with simple designs or graphics)
I think it looks great. First time I saw it, sure not 100% accurate, but hey, at least it looks like a Proton Pack. You can certianly tell what designs are inspired by the “real” pack.
I know I am a lot looser when it comes to movie accuracy than most – I like to take my GBness with a dash of creative liberty and the idea that the tech would evolve over time and alternately get streamlined and more complicated, the way consumer electronics does. Check out the toaster aisle for what I’m talking about.
So that said…the simplified design and liberties taken here really don’t bug me so much. I am curious as to why they moved some of the elements around, but…iconically, it’s still a pack. I instantly think “Ghostbusters.” It’s not broken, it’s just different.
Flip the pack around and all the parts are pretty much the same place they’re suppose too. :whatever: Probably made it like this for right and left handed players, but yeah, I still think of Ghostbusters when I see it too. It’s not like the Extreme Ghostbusters Proton Pack. Don’t get me wrong, I like the series, but the pack doesn’t really remind me of Ghostbusters.
Perhaps in the game, the power cell and cyclotron lights will be the indicator of something. Maybe it’s a little easier to see if it’s on the right side. :whatever: Guess we’ll see!
