Would You Be Interested In A Stay Puft Mask/Head?

I’m not 100% on doing this yet, but I may have a bit of down time coming up in the next few days, and I’ve been meaning to make a better/more accurate mask for my Stay Puft costume…

The big question is that with the way things are currently, I need this to be cost effective.

So my question to everyone on here is: Would you be interested in purchasing one?

Obviously these stats are only estimates, but here’s what I’m thinking:

• Scaled down to be accurate for a 6’ tall person.

• As movie-accurate as possible.

• Made from expanded foam (this means that it will be light and somewhat soft).

• Might get kinda hot (as the foam is normally used for insulation).

• Minimum 2 layers of paint over the entire surface.

• Thick fabric (possibly a tough felt) for the ribbon on the hat.

• Version #1 would be just the head and would probably run about $40 plus shipping.

• Version #2 would be a mask and would run $55 plus shipping.

• You could always try cutting the head into a mask, but I wouldn’t recommend it…

• The mask would have a black one-way-see-through fabric in the mouth and eyes for breathing/seeing (Sharkstooth Scrim).

• It would take approx. 3 days from the time I got an order to the time I could ship.

I know a lot of it would depend on how good a sculpt I can do, but if I do it, I will upload pics on here as I go to get everyone’s opinion and shape things…

And this isn’t my first time sculpting…

So what do you think?

No interest at all?

Not even any thoughts on the matter?

This is (by the way) to replace the head on this costume:

And because I got stuck on the 3D Model which I was thinking of doing a paper model for:

A clay model would just be able to do the curves of the face much easier…

I am interested!

You happen to be in luck…

A very nice fellow decided to commission a new Stay Puft costume from me…

Including a newly designed Head…

Plans are in the works for wide distribution…

I will be posting something up here in the very near future…

Until then, I leave you with this:

That’s looking pretty good! Just out of curiousity, how much would a complete costume cost? PM me.

For some reason, when I try to PM you, I get this message:

You tried to send a private message to too many recipients.

No Idea why… You were the only one I had in the “To” section…

Any thoughts?

In the meantime, this info might be useful to others, so here is what I was going to send:

I’m figuring out the cost of the costume as I build this one…

Best guess right now would be in the $500 range…

But I won’t know for sure until this one is done…

I’m working on a cheaper alternative though which would include a head, hands, & shirt similar to this one: http://www.designbyhumans.com/vote/detail/59442?filter=voted&page=1

The full costume is great, but it gets very hot, is very hard to get in & out of, and the foam used to make it is (ironically) very flammable…

The alternative would be much better for Halloween & parties & such…

(The head is not flammable at all btw)

I’ll be posting stuff up on this site & my site (http://www.KylePasciutti.com) when I know all the exact details & am ready for a full release…

Thanks for the interest!!!

p.s. to all the true fans who know all the details inside & out, if you see something in the clay model that doesn’t look quite right, please let me know…

Model is done…

Casting has begun…

Don’t think I have enough plaster to do everything tonight & I leave for vacation tomorrow…

Hopefully I’ll have something very cool to show everyone on Friday…!!!

wow man it’s coming along great!!!

I’m really looking forward to seeing it Friday!!

Looking great! I’d be interested if the costume will run around the $500

$500 is exactly the number I am looking at right now as a matter of fact…

But it will depend on the next bit here as the costume comes together…

Thank you to everyone for the fine words of encouragement!

I just got back from my vacation to find about 120 sq/ft of beautiful fresh white foam sitting on my doorstep

With any luck, I will have a completed head to show off tomorrow!

How much would it cost for just the head?

Here’s what I’m shooting for:

Full Costume - $500

Head - $50

Hands - $50

Sailor’s Bib Dealie & Tie - $30

Head & Hands - $95

Head & Bib Dealie - $75

Head, Hands, & Bib Dealie - $115

The Sailor’s Bib Dealie & Tie would come in your choice of 2 sizes (same price).

Either a large to-scale size, or a smaller version that won’t flop all around if worn without a body suit under it.

I’m also looking into having some nice T-Shirts made up with a design similar to this:

http://www.designbyhumans.com/vote/detail/59442?filter=voted&page=1

But with cleaner lines…

That would probably run $20-$25

Everything would be plus Shipping Cost…

And these aren’t set yet, just what I’m shooting for/thinking right now…

Now here is what I’m planning on doing. I was gonna buy a painters white coveralls with some pillows in the coveralls. Would you recommend me getting a large to scale or smaller version. I would like the head…and im also curious about the gloves. Can you show a pic of what they look like…I don’t want to go over the deep end on paying for stuff.

Coveralls and pillows probably won’t build up the shoulders, back, or chest very much, so I would suggest the smaller version…

The hands will look roughly like they do in the picture here, except that the thumb will only have one joint instead of the two (just looks much better)… The high cost of the hands is because of the amount of time that it takes me to produce them unfortunately…

I will upload pictures of everything once all the prep work is done…

Thanks for your interest!

Where are Your Feets??? Oh NOES…Did Someone Eated them?

interested in head only…upon seeing pics of the casting

Same here, the head looks like it’s on it’s way to be awesome and I may not mind one depending on the final product.

Whats the latest news on this

Hey! Sorry for lack of updates…

The mold turned out nicely…

There were a few bubbles that needed fixing, but those were a snap…

Unfortunately, my idea of using expanding foam for the head did not work at all…

Turns out that the air bubbles tend to accumulate on the solid surfaces…

So I’ve switched over to a latex “skin” with a small bit of expanding foam, then a layer of regular foam for comfort…

The process works great, but I was an idiot & pulled the 1st head before the latex was completely dry…

The 2nd head is drying now & should be ready to show early next week…

(It would be ready this week, but I’m all of a sudden super busy with work & a SXF/Makeup seminar I’m doing this weekend & don’t think I’ll have time…)

Because of the switch to latex, the prices i was hoping to shoot for are regrettably no longer possible…

The head will now most likely be $100, with a full suit coming in around $600…

If anyone is interested, I am going ahead with finishing the 1st head…

It’s not exactly the best, but I want to get it out of my shop so I’m going to sell it for $30…

(A great bargain considering the normal one will be $100… You could always go as the “Melted Stay Puft” lol)

When I finish with the old & new ones, I’ll post pix, & start taking orders…

The “melted” one will be first come first serve…

I’ll probably take 3 orders at a time for the regular heads & 1 at a time for the full suits…

STAY PUFT’in MAKES ME FEEL GOOD!

…wait, that’s not right

I’m definitely interested in the head and hands. I’m having a Halloween wedding..my fiance is going as a ghost bride and I’m going as a Ghostbuster. My Uncle’s my best man and he’s going as Stay Puft…he’s a REALLY big guy. This would really put his outfit over the top!
