ACTIVSION: Ghostbusters Game not Cancelled.

where’s the best place to pre-order?

i would say at game stop or eb games since game stop is th one promoting the game. but you can preorder anywhere that has the option

I heard that pre-sales are no longer a good gauge of game sales, especially now that the economy’s in the toilet a lot of people might not be willing to commit to a luxury they may not have the money for. GB will have been the first game I’ve ever preordered, most of my purchases are made based on word-of-mouth and reviews from friends who have it.

Because those are “safe” (guaranteed sales to the kids and casual gamers)…my Gamestop is loaded with used copies of all three though.

Ghostbusters is also my first pre ordered game, I usually buy games after they have price dropped because I usually don’t have much money.

Exactly. I never pre-order games. If I want a game, I get it when it comes out. This is the only time I have EVER pre-ordered a game. I would guess a lot of people probably don’t bother to pre-order it, so I doubt that pre-orders should hold that much weight. Still, we have one person saying his local area didn’t seem to have many, and another person saying his local area seemed to have insane amounts of pre-orders for the game, so maybe the pre-orders aren’t that bad. We don’t really know.

Pre-sales? Are they serious? The only game I EVER bought in a pre-sale is a Zelda game…The Gold Cart Version of Majora’s Mask. Do people really put that much stock on game pre-orders these days? Let’s not take into account the fact that no one outside the die hard fan base, or the fellow geeks that went to the Comic Con even knew about the game… And how many of those people even knew it was available for pre-order?

There’s something else going on here that we are not being told about…you’d have to be literally brain dead to give up on a game that’s going to be this huge, and gets this amount of positive press. This is a movie based video game, people… most of them suck hard because the developers knew in the early days that people will take a chance on it just because it has the movie logo. Need I remind you of a crappy game by the name of ‘Back to the Future 2 AND 3’? This may be the first movie game in history that actually breaks sales projected sales records!

I dunno…other people have summed up my thoughts far more eloquently…but that’s my brain waves on the matter..

yeah, the BTTF2&3 game was actually worse than the BTT1 game - and that one was awful!

granted the early Ghostbusters games were pretty bad too, except for the “New Ghostbusters 2”, that was sweet!

(and GB DOOM ruled, of course - but that wasnt an official game)

That’s exactly what I am thinking. I mean, it isn’t as though they started advertising this on TV or anything yet. So, really, the only people to know at this point would be us Ghostbusters fanatics, and video gamers in general. Casual gamers (who may not bother to read the magazines, or watch G4, or anything like that) wouldn’t have known it was coming out yet. I’m sure that is probably usually the case for just about any game, and those casual fans probably make up the biggest chunk of people who buy games. Every franchise will always have its die hards, but I would be that a whole bunch of people would pick up the Ghostbusters game even if they are only learning of its existence when they walk into the store and see it.

The big difference here is that this is not exactly a game based on a movie. This is more like the Scarface game. It isn’t like games like Iron Man, Hulk, Fantastic Four, etc. It isn’t a game they are rushing out to make a buck off of a current hot movie. Meaning they have had all the time in the world to really take their time and develop the game. Hopefully, that will result in a great game, not one rushed out to make a good buck. I just hope this all gets resolved VERY quickly, and we hear the results very soon. Hopefully it can still be released on time, but if not, hopefully very close to it.

I’m really getting anxious, and I want October to hurry up, but I’d much rather wait a few weeks longer than not see the game at all

Cuz they’re wanting the game to coincide the 25th anniversary of the film, their not going to release the game until June 2009!! wtf, why would they push it back a year! it had 2 more months but now they’re treating us like hammie, like waving the cookie in our face and then throwing it away leaving us all like "but i like the cookie. :frowning: "

I heard that it got pushed back to 2009, but JUNE !?!?! what a slap in the face.

Wait… where did you hear this? I haven’t heard that anywhere yet. I will be REALLY p*$$ed the F off if that is the case. I mean, at least that means we’ll still be getting the game, but that is FAR too long to wait now that we’ve been assuming we’d be getting it THIS October. Besides, then I’ll just have to wait almost another year, just paranoid that they are going to push it back again.

Anyway, did you actually hear this from a valid source? I hadn’t yet even heard any news on what exactly they were going to do with the game, much less a new target release date.

(EDIT)

I just saw the news, so I see what people are talking about. Still, I didn’t see anywhere that the specifically said JUNE of 2009, althought if they were going for an anniversary thing, obviously that would make sense. Plus, I also didn’t read anywhere where it was said that they ARE DEFINITELY pushing it back, just that they are considering it as a possibility. But, at least the news seems to be saying that we WILL get the game no matter what. We just may have to wait longer. I’m p*$$ed, but at least that means we will eventually get the game.

Screw that. I signed the petition. I want my game in October or at least any of the other months in THIS year.

I hear you on that. This is ridiculous! We were three frigging months away and now they expect us to wait almost an entire year? I am so p*$$ed off. They damn well better reconsider and get it to us close to, if not on the original target time frame. I mean, eventually I’ll be happy if we at least get the game, but it will be really hard to wait another year after we were so close.

Yea. Thats what I said in the petition. We’re finally 3 months away from something legit from the original creators and this happens!!

I pre-ordered it just in case it sold out, and maybe there might be a special gift, too.

I pre-ordered on the plan that it would be a birthday present for myself this year. Why in the nine hells are they pushing it back to 2009?! Will preorders taken at stores prior to now still be honored then?

Look at it this way…Its better to say “Well at least I have the game to look forward to in 2009 (if it gets pushed back).” as opposed to “Well at least I have the game to look forward to in 2000NEVER”. So many people are very unappreciative that it didnt get shit canned all together. If it does get postponed maybe it’ll get handed off to someone who will make it even better then what its going to be. Look on the positive side.

On Activisions site it says that the release date is this Holloween.

It always has been.

That is because Fall 2008 = Halloween 2008.

The real target date is / was October 21st.

Feeling like a broken record here
