Thanks for Posting …He looks pretty good…didn’t come off as a total dick but he did repeat the party line …I wouldn’t bet the farm on this but hey …we will see

the staypuft hints at ghostbusters 3.

I would think Murray would just state he wasn’t doing it if things were that cut and dry.

I agree Chairman, it seems like he’s willing to give the concept of another film a chance. He’s sure as hell not shy about saying know flat. So if your hoping for another film this could be a good sign.

Nice work. Bill Murray same news as always GBIII thread #18.

Nice to see Murray not being cynical about it as he usually is. His openness is at least a good sign, but im not holding my breathe to we have something more grounded than hearsay of “well they’re working on a script”.

Though it bares mention, he seems more open minded this time around, Men in Black 3 is a more suitable genre-likeness ( not to mention a leap year of a better film ) than Bad Teacher and Year One. The same goes for Cohen’s other work, Tropic Thunder (more up the GB-esque alley )

Not to say, MIB 3 was a “great” movie, but at least it was funny, entertaining, and even touching at times, and more importantly less-convoluted and less rambling than MIB 2. While compared to the turkey comedies, Bad Teacher and Year One, were at least in the right direction of a more dignified screenplay. And I think Bill acknowledges that.

Though why Harold and Dan just didn’t pick up where the doof-patrol left off is still beyond me (which is what i thought was the next step). Oh well, we’ll see where this goes.

I honestly don’t know how to take this.

I was 100% comfortable with Murray passing on GB3, now this confuses me. Dan seemed so adamant that Bill wasn’t going to be a part of this.

Does this news just mean that Murray wasn’t going to do ‘that’ version of GB3, or is Murray stating that he’ll greenlight it if the script is good, due to his rights holdings?

Confused…

Till the day he dies…

Dear god, Bill Murray flips his opinion on his involvement with GB3 faster then pancakes being served at breakfast! Bill, baby you can’t say your not interested in making a movie and a few months later tell everyone watching you that it…again…depends on how good the script is. I don’t think he got the memo from Dan when he said he wouldn’t be involved haha Seriously though these bill murray threads give me lulz for hours on end

Seeing him with the marshmallow man toy put a smile on my face

surely the marshmallow man will not step on a church in his town, now.

I don’t think Bill’s flip flopped, he’s always said it all depended on the script. It was Dan who said Bill wouldn’t be involved anymore, and Dan often seems to not know what he’s talking about. I personally get the impression that Sony isn’t putting their all into getting this movie made. They could actually try hiring top notch writers since they know Murray won’t sign off without a great script.

I doubt even that will end it.

I think that GB3 will be on the silver screen when Hollywood will make a movie about an alien race of turtles masters of ninjtsu.

Ghostbusters is a money printing press and is absolutely one of their top priorities right now. They won’t make the same mistakes they did with GBII, both in story and financial/merchandising, and Sony has had GBIII in active development for over 4 years now. That’s four years of putting up with Bill Murray holding the rights hostage. Another Ghostbusters movie will happen (period) and I think Murray might be getting wise to it. I wouldn’t be surprised if Sony has a team of lawyers looking for loopholes so they can just go ahead and greenlight a complete remake.

As for the script: Cohen has shown a marketable quality, he isn’t going to reinvent the wheel or anything but he does have credit as co-writer on two of the more “smart” comedies of the past decade (Idiocracy and like it or not Tropic Thunder). He could, in actuality, serve as the perfect “Harold Ramis, script doctor” to the drafts that have been turned in so far. Though I’m sure it has to suck to have two completely different drafts you’re working on simultaneously- one with Venkman and one without.

Oh, you think so?

Man these guys get better and better every year.

Oh wait I’m sorry. gb3 has to happen because dan aykroyd wants it so bad or my uncle works for harold ramis’ gardener and he said that they start motion capture in two days after Ernie Hudson gets done redoing the drywall in his garage. Forgot that any realistic discussion isn’t tolerated, sorry best fans!

Dude its been talk for years, thats it talk! The whole idea of GB3 is just, well damn stupid. I dont really see alot of money being made off it in “stores” but hey, whatever. Just dont get butt hurt over the truth.
