Clean vs. "slimed"?

i’ve seen most people’s uniforms are always clean and sharp looking, as if just out of the local dry cleaners. why don’t more people slime their uniforms up with silicone or something that will always look like you just got slimed? Do more people prefer the clean look?

Greg

Because GBs wash their clothes too

Because the stuff they used in the movies hardens rather quickly…so I guess that’d be it?

I’m a big promoter of the Ideal Clear Wiring pulling lubricant. It doesn’t stain and dries in a couple of hours. It is very messy and has all the characteristics of slime. Also non-toxic so I usually cover my head in it for that slimed Venkman look. At certain events, expecially those during the day like charity walks, we prefer the clean look. Usually events at night with more adults we slime up more often.

Here’s an example of it’s handy work on Halloween night.

That looks friggin awesome!

You have to try it sometime.

I just may try some of this stuff myself. Looks great as slime. How well does it wash out of the jumpsuit?

Doesn’t leave anything behind at all. It actually evaporates over time. Temperature determines that and how thick you put it on, but it doesn’t harden. I’ve had it last from 30 minutes to 4 hours. Depending on how much you used that part of the suit may be stiff for awhile, but again it’s completely clear.

I like to keep it professional ..nice and clean.

very nice

Let me get this straight…so you can slop a ton of this stuff on and after a while it just goes away? No washing involved?

Yeah. Like I mentioned. If you use alot in one spot your suit might be a bit stiff in that spot, but that’s it. It’s used for the purpose of pulling wire through electrical conduit and evaporates so none is left behind. The cheaper yellow stuff will stay in pipes and is not pretty when you open it back up later. It also gets stuck everywhere. The clear stuff is helpful when working in places you’d like to keep clean.

You just have to try it. Here’s the info from the website.

And if you want to add some color to it, liquid soap dye from Hobby Lobby or Michael’s crafts can add that tint of color you need to the “Slime” without staining your clothes.

Where can I get the ClearGlide bottle? Home Depot?

I have often thought about this. Most everyone weathers their pack, but not their uniform. If and when I ever get around to making my own getup, I am considering going for the worn look.

Think Ray and Peter in the scene where Ray hires Winston.

Or the scene where they finally reach the 22nd floor when going to confront Gozer… art deco, very nice. And some very well-used uniforms.

Im a fan of the worn slimed look when done accurately i just havent seen anything here in the UK that would “slime” up the uniform without to much hassle

Awesome to find this. I was looking for a good but not so nasty product to give that slimed look. Jeff I borrowed your pic and your description for the ALGB boards I hope thats alright .

So…still debating on this topic for this Halloween…has anyone added soap dye to this Ideal stuff? If so, does it look cool?

good question.. I am thinking of doing this also… Anyone .. here tried the color soap..?..? any feedback would be great!!!

Where can you buy this stuff? Lowe’s doesn’t have it… at least not on their website as listed in any of their stores… its not listed at Wal-Mart either. Is this an online only thing?
