Hey, guys.
I’d like to strip off the “weathering” silver paint and reapply my own. What would be the best thing to use? I’m afraid of melting the plastic and making a big ol mess.
Thanks!

Rubbing alcohol should take it right off.
Another post somewhere (Reddit or here, a 1984 conversion) used Magic Eraser
It doesn’t. Alcohol >90% rubbed the weathering on the Hasbro wand off but doesn’t remove it from the pack. I still don’t know for sure what will.
I used a magic eraser and rubbing alcohol. Takes some time, but it comes off. You can see my results in my build thread
I found the same. I used airbrush cleaner, but the silver came right off the wand, but not the pack. I wound up just weathering over the silver on the pack and I think it looks fine. Once I got to paint chipping and stuff you can barely see the original silver anymore.
