I have a question about the LEDS that are used on the wand. After reading Seans plans, I see that he outlines the types of lights used like the linrose etc. However, I notice many of the kits come with LEDs already wired in. So my question is should I follow Seans plans and purchase what he tells me to purchase, or buy lenses and wait for my electronics kit to iinstall the actual LEDs. What are the parts for the lenses and where do I get them from.
In addition, can anyone give me a rundown of the size of the holes that need to be drilled into the gun body in preparation o recieve the switches and LEDs/Lens Caps
All of this info has been covered in many many threads. Please search for answers to any questions you may have in the “Search Here” box in the upper right of the page.
Regarding the most recent plans Sean produced, they don’t fully reflect the full extent of knowledge we now have. For instance they don’t refer to the fact that the orange cap on the Gun Ear and the white cap at the front of the Gun Box are not only of the same manufacture, but were produced by Arcolectric.
Additionally the plans also suggest a very thin Linrose light on the top of the Proton Gun, rather than it being a recessed Arcolectric light cover.
The current consensus is that the majority of the light covers are Arcolectric (white and orange hat lights, and the clear and red neon indicators as sold in the GBFans shop). Once you’ve bought your light kit for the Proton Gun you may find you might need to replace the LEDs that will light the red neon indicator (once you’ve removed the neon bulb, which is easy) on the Rear Instrument Bar and the clear indicator on the top of the gun as the diameter of the LED may be too big to fit inside the clear covers (I found this when I bought Jupiter’s gun light kit).
All you would need to do is find out the rating of the LEDs from the kit manufacturer, and either purchase a replacement from an electronics store, or ask if the manufacturer can replace them with appropriately sized ones.
Unfortunately at the moment I don’t have the parts to hand to measure them.
