Modding a Kenner Ghostbusters Firehouse, should I paint it black or red?

Some time ago, I bought a Kenner Ghostbusters Firehouse that has seen better days. It needed a lot of work to clean it up. I had to buy a few vintage parts / 3D printed replacements. I still haven’t gotten the pole, but I’m thinking of getting some 3/8’’ copper or brass tubing to replace that. I even got a neat new hanging sign off of etsy. Trouble is, now that I’m thinking of actually re-painting it, I can’t decide if I want to emulate the first film as best as I can given the limitations of the playset, which means the main doors and brickwork should be black, or red like it was before they bought it in the movie, and pretty much every source ever since. Apparently they had to scrub the black off the building after the first film, and thought it was too much of a nuisance to do it again. So I’m putting it to the community. What does everyone think?

I suppose it depends on if you want it to be the GB1 Firehouse, or the GB2 Firehouse… Painting the brick a uniform black would be pretty straightforward, painting them red would require a bit more effort to make them look weathered and varied in shade.

I went with black. Considering even Kenner went with a darker/muted purple for some of the run I think it would contrast the best.

Though black is accurate for GB1, every other movie / media is red. Most people won’t understand why it’s black
