Wow, this is looking great! I’m having a go at putting pieces together today, the wand and ion arm. This is a big unknown step for me… just going to take my time. If things go well I’ll be sure to post my progress.

and I’m sure its very light as well. I might have to do an ion arm this method at some point. How to you bond the sheets together to make sure its solid?
Styrene sheets are generally sold in plastics warehouses. People making vacform would know where to locate them without having to buy in bulk (or mega bulk.)
Alternatively, propmakers have been known to buy products that are made with it to salvage the material, similarly to the mandalorian armors made of rubbermaid containers or polypropylene buckets instead of syntra (which could - I assume - also be used in making the packs)

to glue the sheets together i use normal superglue. it forms a really strong bond, its hard to explain but it kind of “welds” the sheet together. i really wish i could find a store that sells this exact type of material so i could point you all in the right direction but ive never come across a store that sells it 
Nick-a-tron you said earlier that the styrene u use is 4/5 mm thick did u meann 4 or 5 mm cuz 4/5 is very thin
whoops yes i did mean about 4 or 5mm thick (i think it is closer to 4mm).
well i managed to get all the extra parts added to what i got done yesterday. booster tube and frame, injector tubes, ion arm, crank knob and HGA all added and gave it a simple coat of flat black paint. heres how its looking so far…

dude that piece is turning out great. You’re the first I’ve seen to use the GB1 style Ion arm end cap/rod with the clippard barb in the end cap and not in the arm. Thats how mine’s gonna be. I can’t wait to see the rest!
BTW did u get a custom GB1 ribbon cable from solidgoldcaddy?

Thats great that you got one. I got in on the presale just before he stopped taking orders, I was the 2nd to last order, seriously. I’m so glad. Nick, I’m doing the same, total GB1 style and one thing over all is killing me the most; v-hoolk accuracy, not so much the style or material but the angle and pitch. Ever since I saw GB2 for the first time when I was 7 I knew there was something about the way the gun stuck out that just didn’t look right to me. I think the angle of the v-hook is essential to a GB1-specific pack, just like the Ion Arm and Gray Knob. Where are you getting yours and are you going to be ■■■■ about the v-hook angle too?
the angle of my hook will be accurate to GB1 as i too am not too keen on the angle in GB2, but sadly the hook itself won’t be accurate. i’m using a dixie-cup bracket from the GBfans store. i will upgrade it at a later date though to a screen accurate one.

thanks I also had that bookmarked and forgot about it. I just shot an email to him so I’ll let you know what he says. From the pictures it looks like they have both styles.

This thing is just bonkers! It’s turning out so beautifully. Was the gun made from styrene as well?
Also, how sturdy is the 4mm styrene/super glue combo? Like, say, could it withstand a pretty firm bump into the wall, that sort of thing?
thanks for the kind words everyone. the wand was made from the same styrene im using for the pack.
the styrene/superglue combo forms a very strong bond, its so hard to explain but the material im using kind of semi-absorbs the glue and slighltly “welds” the sheet together. i kind of want to send a small sample of the material im using to an expert who can tell me just what it is so i can it share with you all! im going to fill the differnet boxes with expanding foam also to make it really sturdy!
ill post some more photos tomorow for you all 
my guess is that the superglue actually melts the polymer making a very strong seam.
As for the exact type of polymer, beats me. but if you can manage to know it, please do share.
