my pack construction *NEW SHOTS PAGE 6!!*

it may look that way Sal but infact its a tad small! i was sent all the exact measurements and the washers i found were all about 1mm too small. maybe its becuase the cyclotron looks small when not on the spacer and so makes the ion knob look big.

oooo big steps today…so very tired right now so i’ll let the pictures do the talking

It starts to look complete! you even have the alive frame. I’m jealous.

It looks great. congrats on that big step.

Such a thing of beauty.

Are your Legris elbows real or resin?

I love Nick’s paint jobs on all of this stuff, first the trap then this..amazing.

And I think he’s stated earlier that the elbows were resin.

Griff

thankyou griff! yes the elbows are resin but im hoping to replace them with the real deal along with the legris straights a little furthur down the line. ill try to get some better pics up when im back home.

quick update. bumper and mobo arrived!! had to sand the bumper quite alot but once it was primed and painted turned out rather nice. nothing is bolted down yet, all just resting in place (no sneezes please  ) …

I smell an upcoming completed pack photoshoot…

haha i think you might be right! still got a fair bit to do though. got to cut the MDF to make the little stepped area between the upper and lower sections of the pack, attach the ribbon cable, and then mount the mobo to the frame and the pack to the mobo.

I can’t wait to see this finished Nick. It’s shaping up real nice!

if you’re anything like me, the closer you’ll get to completion, the more you’ll realise you were to forget to do.

You’re very close to completion. I am still uncertain who’s pack will be done first between us.

Looking great Nick. Where did you get the bumper if you don’t mind me asking?

Looks absolutely amazing Nick. Good luck and keep us posted!

thankyou everyone! the ribbon cable has arrived and i have just dry fitted it to the pack and makes it look so much better. many thanks to solidgoldcady!!

as for the bumper abaka i purchased it 2nd (possibly 3rd) hand and needed a bit of filling and sanding etc but once done looked fine. but i do suspect that it was made by a certain blacklisted seller.

going to try and finish the shell part this week. get that all done then it will just be case of bolting the L-brackets to the MOBo and mounting the whole thing. stay tuned

right! the shell section is now complete! everything has been built and now just a case of fitting all the parts of the jigsaw together and bolting them down. need to glue the 3 three sections of the shell together and secure all the wires and hoses etc and then all i need to do is bolt the shell, mobo and alce frame together!! here is a shot of the finished shell portion. so close…so veeeeery close

That is awesome Nick! Congrats man, very clean nice nice pack! you should be proud

Griff

thanks Griff! but i must say iv’e just been having some fun with fuller’s earth and the packs not so clean now

Packs looking beautiful Nick. You gonna do another one? You have definate skills, whats your next project?

thankyou abaka! i was thinking today about how much i enjoyed building this one and that even though i consider myself a bit of a GB1 purist i think i will build myself a GB2 pack in the near future. one things for sure is that i wont be scratchbuilding the shell portion next time, will be ordering a shell from exoray or MMM or whoever has one at the time. as for my next project, well i have a fair few kits and props to build for a few people so no new bits for myself just yet but i think once my schedule is clear ill be starting my GB1 hero trap

You should try a Slime Blower…and since you’re a GB1 purist you should give it to me afterwards.
