Halloween 2009: post yer pics!

The Ghostbusters crew from Sydney rocked the Dendy Theatre in Newtown on Halloween for the premier screening of Zombieland. We had a great time! Half the audience were in costume (mostly zombies), but I think we turned out to be crowd favourites, especially after Bill Murray’s extended cameo in the movie.

My day as a Ghostbuster

CPU64 I feel your pain bud.

I slaved over my gear to get it done for Halloween. I made my son a pack and a uniform, as well as myself. My wife was gonna go as janine.. but there just was no time left to find her anything.

I even knew were all the hotspots were, and had a big night planned for us. First, mistake we made was going to church. Not that it would have been bad.. but this is my dads church, and noone dresses up, and they literally have nothing. I just went because they were having a bounce house.. and i thought my son might like it.. Turned out, it was lame.. no kids were dressed up at all.. and we didn’t either since I knew ahead of time noone else would be..

we left there, and was supposed to go trick or treating. However we got sidetracked again, because we took my wifes mom, sister, and her two kids with us, and they wanted us to stop at some random old ladies house. Which wasted about 20 minutes as well. they got candy there, but we spent alot of time on our costumes. In this case.. Gareee was right.. less is more. Less people to contend with.. the better. I would have rather it been just me, my wife and son.

We finally got to the trick or treating area, only to see 1 house lit up.. she told us that noone else on the street was doing it. but the next street over was. So we headed that way, and only 4 houses on that street was lit up. a few people told me they loved my costume, and a few people riding by yelled out “who ya gonna call” and “GHOSTBUSTERS!” which was cool. There were no more houses, and one house was out of candy, even though they were sitting outside. I was riding on the side of the explorer (on the outside) since my pack was too aggrivating to take on and off. I remember when I was younger, we could literally walk the whole time.. Anyway, I shouted out “LETS RUN SOME RED LIGHTS” and some people got a kick out of that.

We then had no idea where to go, and trick or treating hours were about over. So we went out to the local haunted house. There was maybe 40 people in line, and a few of them commented, or started humming/singing the theme song. A group of kids talked to me for 10 minutes asking about my pack, and telling me where I could find ghosts. It was cool to see that kids this young knew who I was.

After that, we went to a gas station, and I got several high fives from people in there. Then, we went to walmart and I got all sorts of crazy looks. I walked past a car outside with 2 hot girls in it. One of them yelled out “Does that thing really work?” I said.. “sometimes”. She said, “I’ve got some ghosts in my house, could you come catch them?”. “I said, sure.. whats the address?”. I actually had someone ask if I was an exterminator.. lol.

Even though I got some pretty good compliments. It was nothing like what I wanted. I wanted to hit up some costume contests, and all the popular haunted houses.. but.. bleh. I think, the key next year is to get an ecto, and attract some attention. We’ve also gotta go to a bigger town to do the trick or treating.. ours is just too small. I couldn’t do any bar contests because my son was with me.. and I wasn’t taking him in one.

I was pretty ticked off at how few people were doing anything.

Then, I got even more ■■■■■■ when I found out they all did it Friday.. because of the GA/FL game.. I mean.. I don’t have anything against sports.. but this is the 3rd time Halloween has been changed due to a football game… and I wasn’t aware.. Halloween is not on Oct. 30th.

I worked.

I need to stop looking like Zander’s stunt double.

I geared up and co-hosted a street party for a few hours in downtown kissimmee; and spared 20 minutes cuddling with a new found fan. It really wasn’t exciting, but alot of the straights really liked my uniform and the proton cannon. I forgot to bring my digital, but almost everyone there had cameras. Heck, I even got a free beer from some older woman. I was just happy that it was a cool night, barely made a sweat, until I had the low budget entertainment play the Ghostbusters theme song.

At least you work at Game Stop and people didn’t tug on your equipment. Drunk people are fun to hang around with. :vinzclortho:

Seems the “Youtube” tags aren’t working, so posting a regular link back to YOUTUBE

My wife and I, ready with our gear to roll out to the Halloween pub crawl in Springfield, MO.

My ‘new’ old Ford ■■■■■■ wagon and my pack

More pics to come from the actual pub crawl. It was a wild time and the costumes were a big hit. Must have heard, "who ya gonna call?‘’ about 300 times:) Seemed like we were taking a photo with fans about every other step we took. Got to dance with a band at one of the bars when they played the GB theme in their set. Ran into a group of four busters in inflatable packs and got a group photo with them and another guy in a pretty cool Stay Puft suit. I was a very surreal, super-fun night out.

We did a car show at this place that had a bar in a swamp, we originally went there sort of as a joke (it’s called the SoggyBottom Camp Grounds) but not only did we have a great time, the place itself was pretty cool…in a laid back redneck sort of way.

We had the GBfans Banner laying in front of the packs in the front of the car (the lightbar is obscured by the doors)

The bar, we’re gonna have to go back, this place is out of the way but very cool.

This is the stage…no really, they have bands set up on this.

And finally, the VIP area.

Ecto-1G won best of show beating out a bad ass '34 ford coupe (that should have won) and some other really cool classics. After that we did a private party then several other appearences at clubs around town, but we only took pics at the show. (If I find some others later I’ll add 'em) Great time though.

Backup arrived that night in the form on consumer shortcut bustin Gear!

ANd if course I convinced her to do the “turnaround” so we could compare “packs.” Teehee!

Hey, my WIFE took the picture, so if there’s anything in there that offends anyone, I wasn’t the photographer!

Great night. Packed bar, very smoky, but I managed to come out with an Overall Best costume award!

That’s 2 for 2 this Halloween!

Pack damage was minimal too…

G

Looks like her costume is barely sticking together! LOL!

Least she put her pack on right side up.. but that dude with her.. no comment! LOL!

Best. Costume. Evar. AND I made for my son from scratch! looks like he could battle it out with the toddler ghostbuster I saw below on here! we are entered in the costume contest so plz vote for us!!

We went downtown the night of Halloween for a huge costume party. Multiple live bands, costume contests and more -I wish we had started taken pictures sooner -but we’ll know better for next year.

Here’s the highlights:

This guy had a fantastic costume but seemed to be by himself -I’m not sure how he was able to navigate through the crowds. Interestingly, he did not show up at any of the costume contests.

Nora was fascinated by the Hulk. He definitely had the physique to pull it off, but she was more interested in how he managed not to smear makeup all over everyone…

The girl asked for a picture and Nora thought it was so good she asked to take the same shot with our camera (I have a great wife).

There were quite a few other Ghostbusters at the party. None had the level of gear that I did. All were very gracious and interested in my costume.

All the Sesame Street characters were present but the Bert costume was the best.

The Invisible Man -I can’t imagine how uncomfortable that outfit was.

I won a local bar contest (yeah!) which qualified my to compete in the big costume contest. The guy in white is the bar manager and is telling me what will happen next…

I’m queued up to go onstage with the other finalists. The two pirates from Pirates of the Caribean -there costumes were amazing -they looked spot on.

Oh yeah! It’s the Kool-Aid guy. Very impressive costume.

The guy’s costume was amazing, but the girl’s was beyond description. I asked her how she was able to fit into the car, her answer “I slouched wayyyy down”.

Bender was very cool. I’m not sure what the underlying structure of the costume was, but the entire surface was silver duct tape.

The guy in the costume didn’t speak and I don’t think he could see very well. When people were asking for pictures I would grab his elbow and point him towards the camera.

The monkey had some kind of animatronics, it moved independently from the pirate.

My entrance on stage.

Its hard to tell, but the two people on my right are sandals, “flip” and “flop”. You can see the toes in the picture.

You can’t tell, but the girl is in a “sexy” Ghostbuster contest. She was pretty drunk, but she had a nice smile.

There was an earlier guy in a Staypuft costume that was much better, but no picture (so sad), this guy was with a couple of people in Ghostbuster costumes.

View from above and behind the stage. This was the second band of the night and they were fantastic. I’m guessing there were 10-15 thousand people at the Bash.

Here’s a link to a gallery of costumes at the Springfield MO pub crawl…me and the wife are in a pic at the end

I had a great time in NYC.. stayed in union square where i met up with 2 other GBers.. not from this site however which was weird they made their stuff on their own with no help whatsoever.. so it didnt look that great but i gave them great credit anyway

and before my girlfriend showed up .. I was getting tons of attention ..

It rained on us most of halloween eve.. but that didnt stop me from being outside… my pack got rained on a lot but nothing happened to it ( thank god for enamel paints )

I got tons of pics but those are good for now

Holy ■■■■, KC! Thats a HUGE number of people! I’m kinda glad I live in a smaller town now… less competition!

So who was the grand prize winner?

Gareee-

The pirates were the grand prize winners ($1000). A Star Wars guy, on a full size Ton Ton came in second (no pics, he was too big to get on the stage), and I think Kool-Aid guy was third. I came in 4th… (no cash prize on that one).

I’ve posted pictures in a couple places, the contest thread and in our regional board… (3 y/o GB in CT ;) - New England - GBFans.com)

Here is one I just got tho from the Halloween party they threw on the base:

She ended up winning a prize, it was a M&M vending machine thing. Whatever, made her happy. LOL

not GB related…but worth posting up i think. Halloweeeeen was awesome!!!
